Toledo Mudhens //

The Toledo Mudhens have been one of the most popular Minor League teams ever since a character on M*A*S*H wore a hat that had a T and a goofy looking bird on it. I typically like the older logos, but to me, Toledo can do better.

The whole logo was created around the wordmark. Completely custom not based on anything, I just wanted something that would be unique. Inspiration came from old sign painters lettering if I had to pinpoint it.

In the minor leagues, you want to appeal to families and kids as those are the primary target audience. The Mudhen was created with that in mind. I wanted a fun bird, but one that meant business.

In Toledo there is a large blue suspension bridge, and I really like putting a local landmark into my athletic logos. It proved to be the perfect background for the primary logo.
